Community of Abalone Cove
Community of Abalone Cove, legally the West Portuguese Bend Community Association, is the association for the 1949 tract on Sea Cove Drive, Packet Road, Clipper Road and the lower end of Barkentine Road. The tract sits on the ocean side of Palos Verdes Drive South, just west of Abalone Cove Shoreline Park. The association's own site lists 81 properties on county tract 14649, which are 78 single family homes and three vacant lots, and its terms tie membership to parcels in that tract. Most of the homes were built in the 1950s. City records use the legal name. The city has given the association neighborhood beautification grants in eight cycles, one of them in 2006 for landscaping and lighting at its entrance at Sea Cove and Palos Verdes Drive South, and in 2020 it listed the association among the neighbors of the Abalone Cove Reserve. Listings say residents have a private gate and path to Abalone Cove Shoreline Park.
