Portuguese Bend Community Association
The Portuguese Bend Community Association covers the gated neighborhood off Palos Verdes Drive South that is entered through gates on Narcissa Drive and Peppertree Drive. Formed in 1947, it maintains the private roads and gates, and its Architectural Committee reviews plans for any new building or change before the board approves them. The standards favor low ranch style homes under 16 feet above finished grade, and owners may keep up to three horses with a stable permit from the committee. About 140 homes sit on county tracts 14118, 14195 and 14500, recorded in 1947 and 1948, and on nearby parcels along Vanderlip Drive, Peppertree Drive and West Pomegranate Road. Many lots are vacant. The neighborhood lies in the Portuguese Bend landslide complex, and the city reported in August 2026 that it was still without grid power after shutoffs in 2024.
