PVPUSD Schools: A Neighborhood by Neighborhood Guide

PVPUSD Schools: A Neighborhood by Neighborhood Guide

Ask families why they moved to the hill and the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District comes up before the views do. PVPUSD consistently ranks among California's strongest districts, and for buyers the practical question is simple: which neighborhoods feed which schools?

Here is the lay of the land. One important caveat up front: boundaries can and do change, and enrollment rules have nuance. Always verify a specific address with the district before you write an offer. I keep every school pinned on my interactive South Bay map so you can see them against neighborhoods and MLS areas.

Elementary Schools

  • Lunada Bay Elementary serves the Lunada Bay bluffs in Palos Verdes Estates.
  • Montemalaga Elementary serves upper PVE, above Malaga Cove.
  • Point Vicente Elementary serves the west side of Rancho Palos Verdes.
  • Soleado Elementary serves central hill neighborhoods.
  • Silver Spur Elementary serves the Silver Spur corridor in Rolling Hills Estates.
  • Rancho Vista Elementary serves Rolling Hills Estates and central RPV.
  • Dapplegray Elementary serves the equestrian east side of Rolling Hills Estates.
  • Mira Catalina Elementary serves the upper east slope of RPV.
  • Vista Grande Elementary serves western RPV near Los Verdes.
  • Cornerstone at Pedregal is the district's choice/STEAM magnet program.

Intermediate Schools

  • Palos Verdes Intermediate covers the west side, drawing from PVE and western RPV.
  • Ridgecrest Intermediate covers the central hill.
  • Miraleste Intermediate covers the east slope.

High Schools

The Peninsula has two comprehensive high schools. Palos Verdes High School sits near the coast in PVE, and Palos Verdes Peninsula High School is centrally located in Rolling Hills Estates, plus Rancho Del Mar, the district's alternative campus. Both comprehensive campuses are excellent. Families often choose a neighborhood specifically to land in one attendance zone or the other, and transfer policies within the district shift year to year.

How I Use This With Buyers

When we tour, I bring the school layer up on the map next to the neighborhood polygons, so you're not guessing which side of a boundary a street sits on. If schools are driving your search, tell me the campus you want and I'll work the search backwards from there. It is often the fastest way to narrow the entire Peninsula to five or six streets.
